How to Test Capacitor by using Analog or Digital Multimeter

Method 1 Test Capacitor using Analog Multimeter :

1) Unmount or unsolder The capacitor from the Pcb
2) Discharge the capacitor fully (Connect the two leds of the capacitor with each other for some time)
3)  Set the Meter to high Resistance mode such as 1k or above .
4) Now connect the positive lead of the Meter with the positve lead of the capacitor and negative...
5) if the Meter needle moved to zero & remain on zero then The capacitor is short
6) if the Meter needle not move from it,s initial position then the capacitor is open
7) if the meter needle moving slowly form initial point to infinite point then the Capacitor is good

Method 2 Test Capacitor using Digital Multimeter :
1) Unmount or unsolder The capacitor from the Pcb
2) Discharge the capacitor fully Connect the two leds of the capacitor with each other for some time
3)  set the Meter to high Resistance mode such as 1k or above .
4) Now connect the positive lead of the Meter with the positve lead of the capacitor and negative...
5) Note the initial reading of the Dmm when you connect the capacitor with DMM
6) The reading will disappear and will show open line Do this action 2 times if you got the same results then the capacitor is Good .
7) if you found no change in the meter reading not moving to Open line then it,s bad capacitor .
