What is IPv4 ( Internet Protocol Version 4 )
This is the First version of the Ip But still, most of the people and network designer use this version Not all Networks and people shifted their routers and devices to IPV6 it will take some time to Shift all the networks and host into IPV6.The Range of IP addresses in this version is 32-bit it mean with the possibility of (2^32=4 billion Addresses ) it means that we can get 4 billion unique Addresses from IPV4. Don’t Confuse with a 4 which written near version 4 it,s just version number, not like that 2^4 it,s totally wrong.
we can write IPV4 IP Address like this 184.108.40.206 they are Binary numbers but we can show this in the form of decimal just for our ease and the Dot show an end boundary of an 8-bit Block the Total Block is 4 now 4X8= 32 bit Total Ip Addresses.
What is IPv6 ( Internet Protocol Version 6 )
internet growth and Complexity is increasing more and more by adding new host new devices to the networks daily like smartphones, computer, tablets, Multiplayer game console e.t.c The given addresses range is 4 billion at IPV4 but Network designer said that Addresses will become unique and it would be hard to find a free ip address on the world so they Design a New Ip version called IPV6 This is the second version of the Ip But not all of the people and network designer implement this version Not all Networks and people shifted to IPV6 it will take some time to Shift all the networks and host in to IPV6 .The Range of IP addresses in this version is 128-bit it mean with the possibility of (2^128= infinite Numbers ) it means that there is now infinite numbers of addresses so no more Ip addresses shortage.
we can write IPV6 ip Address like this fe80:0000:0000:d4a8:6435:d2d8:d9fA:3b11 they are Binary numbers but we can show this in the form of Hexa-decimal just for our ease and the colon show an end boundary of a 16-bit Block the Total Block is 8 now 16X8= 128 bit Total Ip Addresses.
